This handmade ceramic vessel is made from raw textured stoneware. Vase #711 is part of the Rural Vessels Collection where pieces were crafted from "wild clay" using traditional handcrafting techniques. For all the pieces in the collection, texture and color are the key elements. Terese searches for simple, organic shapes that compliment the careful treatment of the vessel's outer surface without overshadowing it... this allows the earth's natural elements to take center stage. This unique approach emphasizes the connectin between an object and its origins. The rough textures and earthy tones become the true protagonists within the series; this evokes a sense of closeness and respect for the natural processes that bring each piece to life.
